OMIP sgmr has managed the Electrical Energy Derivatives Market since July 2006, offering continual negotiation services for various derivative products, a record of bilateral operations, and services for data distribution.

Currently at OMIP, member negotiators can negotiate derivative products (futures, forwards, swaps, and options), with baseload, peak, and solar profiles, with physical or financial delivery. OMIP also provides a wide array of services in the wholesale and retail energy market, as well as in the telecommunications market, such as organizing auctions designed for different types of assets, including but not limited to: transmission capacity rights, special system electricity production, options for purchasing electrical energy, licenses for wind energy production, and 4G frequencies.

In July 2015, OMIE obtained accreditation from the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) as a “Registered Reporting Mechanism (RRM),” as it was one of the first five RRMs in the EU, surpassing all of ACER's requirements to provide reporting services to agents for standard and non-standard contracts.
