The development of local electricity markets poses a challenge and a need to achieve the energy transition. That is why OMIE, in partnership with the Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDAE, in Spanish), drives the initiative IREMEL project for the Integration of Energy Resources through Local Electricity Markets (Integración de Recursos Energéticos a través de Mercados Locales de electricidad).

The main goal is to get to know the requirements on flexibility, the management capacities of the distributed energy resources (active customers, storage facilities, production facilities in the buildings, handling electric car charging...) in order to achieve free participation on the markets and to facilitate efficient incorporation of these sorts of production facilities and renewable usage in the distribution networks.

As a part of the project, IDAE and OMIE have held periodic meetings with stakeholders in order to outline of the operational model for this type of market. All of the documentation created up until this time is available for download through the following link.
